Finally their is answer to the question? How will Twitter start making money. Twitter till now had been only burning the investors money, since there was no source of revenue for it. And with all the negative news floating about Twitter and social media in general , the picture was getting gloomier and gloomier. But then all of a sudden there is news that Twitter plans to start making money before this year end. Now all of  us don’t need to worry, as Twitter wouldn’t be charging us for using Twitter, at least in the current plan. Twitter plan to start earning revenue was reveled in Co-founder Biz Stone interview to DigitalBeat.

According to Biz Stone “The company is in the first phase of rolling out commercial accounts that will entice business users to pay for premium services like detailed analytics. After that, the company might move into building business-oriented application programming interfaces (APIs), creating a “commercial layer” over the social network. The commercial APIs would be out “later this year,” .

“Twitter will still be free for everybody and we’ll still tell them to go crazy with it,” said Stone in an interview. “But we’ve identified a selection of things that businesses say are helping to make them more profit.”

It has been a topic of much debate lately, as to how would Twitter start making money. Specially with the competition rising between Facebook and Twitter, while the former already starting to earn revenues. We will however need to see how this model works, but one thing is clear that Twitter expects to make money from the huge data about people and conversations that it has in its database. Also, API is another thing that Twitter hopes to commercialize, with the vast ocean of Twitter based applications floating around.
