Web Becomes More Social, Facebook Gets More Hits than Google

According to Alexa.com, Facebook.com has more pageviews than Google.com. Facebook has 4.22% of global pageviews in last 3 months while Google got 4.09% during the same time. Below graphs (taken from Alexa) have the details.

Google

Surprising, Well No! Few months back, Facebook beat long time leader of  Web, Yahoo.com, to become the Second Most Visited Site in the World. It now has second largest number of visitors trailing only behind Google.

Compete.com has almost the same story. Google has more unique visitors and visits from the United States, while Facebook is closing the gap.

Looking at these statistics, it seems Google.com Web leadership days are counting. Facebook is going to win it and start a truly Social Web Era where people do not start life with a search but a post to Facebook. If they need to know something, people better ask a friend than a Web Crawler.

Interesting developments. Google will not leave its dominance easily, and it should be exciting to see how the open hearted Google fights its first major Web rival, Facebook.

My suggestion to Google is to help Twitter grow. Grow Twitter in the way how Microsoft helped Facebook outgrow Orkut. Give Twitter half a billion dollars for 5% stake, and see how World change. After all Twitter’s philosophy matches with that of Google’s — remain open and grow with the ecosystem. Twitter’s victory over Facebook can only realize Google’s dream of making World completely open and transparent; and Google will have to win this war from Microsoft and Facebook for the better of the World.

I agree. Google should grow twitter to beat facebook. Day by day, facebook is no longer interactive.

Isn’t your post more like replica or perhaps edited version of a post, already published on the web long back, – http://www.etiole.com/2009/10/why-facebook-and-twitter-will-kill-google-bad-very-soon/

If so, a link back is what you can surely give.
