Why Google Buzz Failed To Connect People?

Google Buzz, search engine giant Google’s social networking avatar, has failed completely to yield expected results. On it’s release, everyone had expected a lot from it, as it was a product of Google! But, owing to various reasons, Google Buzz is a failed identity now. There exists little possibility that Google can revamp it in order to allow its social networking child survive facing it’s competitors. Critics say different reasons for early failure of Google Buzz; however, if you ask me, it is the lack of creativity on the parts of Google in designing and releasing their social networking site.Google Buzz

Clearly, Google had designed its Buzz in a hurry just to counter the implausible growth of other social networking sites, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. They did not show any Googling creativity in designing the site; rather, they prefer to copy the idea and that made them to become unsuccessful. Another reason that provoked them to add one more social networking platform is the fear of losing ground to the Facebook!

Anyway, once released, why Buzz failed to generate enough support and popularity? It’s because, socialites find no reason to use it! People are extremely reluctant leaving their Facebook, Twitter, or similar existing social accounts and switch to Google Buzz. Why they should? Google’s late entry into the microblogging society has cost them dearly. The move is totally untimely. They should have ventured here much early. Who has the time to update Buzz as well as Twitter account?

People fear that Google Buzz has inbuilt tools to know too much about its users. It simply means invasion to one’s privacy! The fear, true up to certain extent, has made new people to stay out of the Buzz! How can you tolerate breach of privacy in a social networking business?

Interface of Google Buzz is also not as attractive as that of Facebook. How can you expect to survive without providing any gorgeous feature?

Well said Ganesh. I never liked the way Google put Buzz into my Gmail. I am very uncomfortable reading two folks talking inside my Gmail account.

Yes Bhupendra, after all, you can’t force upon your choice to others. I don’t understand why Google is so desperate in popularizing their Buzz! People should have been given choice to pick Buzz, instead of pushing through Gmail…

I never really found it useful in any way – there’s 100 other sites that do the exact same thing and yet don’t send 500 emails notifying you. This whole Buzz concept was a flaw from the beginning… though, I’m still surprised at how many websites have a Buzz button. I’d put one on my site but since I can’t stand using Buzz I figure there’s no point.

Shows even the almighty Google can make some pretty bad decisions.

Two of the points you mention are completely incorrect! Its is impossible to incorporate a new application seamlessly into one of the most advanced web apps on the internet without proper planning and implementation. Buzz was not created in a hurry… instead, like you said, too late entry!
Surviving without a gorgeous feature… have you seen http://www.google.com? Its an input box… and i think google is surviving quite well
