There was proposal to create a new adults-only domain in 2003, when regulators actually moved forward to open up the number of major domain names, were announced by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann). Today it administers millions of internet addresses & database. One of the major reasons behind this project delaying was the threaten calls from US Government. Last week, Icann board has approved the project that would allow the .xxx domain existence. Although there were a number board who opposed this particular resolution. Backers are supporting .xxx domain approval on the grounds of reassurance principle that it will provide reassurance to those visiting pornography websites & protect them from the risk of viruses, identity theft, credit card fraud and inadvertent exposure to child abuse images. They also claim appropriate filter methodology through this new domain name version.

Across the globe, many Anti-Pornography agencies and group have been criticizing this new move by Icann board. They said, it will give rise to adamant demand of forcing sex & invite the users to browse specific corner in entertainment section. Even entertainment industries players also legitimize the sex industry for such move which would give create the demand of Censorship on internet circle.  As per as PCmag.com, one Icann board member who opposed the resolution said that .xxx would encourage filtering and, ultimately, censorship.

Report released by ICM Registry, the new domain name will be regulated by IFFOR, which was termed as an independent non-profit body made up of a seven-person policy council, including a child protection representative, a privacy and security expert and representatives from the pornography industry.
