Facebook and Spotify join hands to launch a Music Streaming Service
Music lovers just got another reason to enjoy their time on Facebook. A recent report by Forbes says that Facebook has teamed up with Spotify, to launch a music-streaming service on the popular networking site. Spotify, a Swedish Startup which was founded in 2008, allows music lovers to stream music from a range of major and independent record labels, including Sony, EMI, Warner Music Group, The Orchard, and Universal.
“The service would be launched in two weeks, and would be available for Facebook users in countries where Spotify service is available. The integrated service is currently going through testing, but when launched, Facebook users will get to see a Spotify icon appear on the left side of their newsfeed, along with the existing icons for photos and events”, says the report.
To access the features of Spotify, Facebook users have to click on the icon, which would install the service on their desktop, and allow them to play music tracks from Spotify’s library of songs. You can listen to music, together with your friends and add more fun to the activity.
After grabbing the social media limelight, Facebook is now trying to cater to specific groups of audience and bringing a whole new perspective to social networking. Just few months back, Warner Bros. launched a movie streaming and renting service for Facebook users. Not to forget the social gaming revolution brought about by Facebook’s FarmVille.
