DeNA, Japan’s leading social gaming platform announced yesterday that the company is planning to acquire Punch Entertainment’s Vietnam based Game Studio.

Punch Entertainment Vietnam will provide engineering support to DeNA’s Mobage social game development team, first in Japan and later in other territories.

“Punch Entertainment Vietnam is an excellent addition to DeNA’s first party game development team with its proven track record of developing cross-platform social games. We believe the acquisition will significantly accelerate DeNA‘s game development and deliver high-quality social games for the Mobage platform. The acquisition also underscores our commitment to support the game developers’ community in Vietnam,” said Isao Moriyasu, President of DeNA.

Punch Entertainment Vietnam has developed games on multiple platforms, including iOS and Android titles, for major publishers in the U.S. as well as other countries. This buy out would provide a major boost to DeNA’d social gaming product offerings.

DeNA has a strong presence in China and South Korea with its subsidiaries DeNA China and DeNA Seoul. It has also expanded it Asian operations to Singapore with its newly opened DeNA Asia in the region.

Apart from expanding its presence in the Asian market, DeNA is also targeting the global market.
