GREE, Japan’s leading Mobile Social Gaming Platform to establish Subsidiaries in Five Countries

Japan’s leading mobile social gaming platform, GREE has announced that it will establish subsidiaries in Korea, Singapore, U.K., Netherlands, and Brazil. The new overseas operations will help the company collaborate with local businesses and also provide support to the local game developers.

GREE , which is Japan’s fastest-growing tech company has over 26 million users and is expanding globally. The company set up its US subsidiary, GREE International, in January 2011.In April, GREE acquired OpenFeint, one of the world’s largest mobile social gaming network for iOS & Android device, with over 115 million users worldwide. GREE has also got plans of establishing its first Chinese subsidiary, GREE Beijing, for development and strategic alliance purposes.

Currently, GREE has a social mobile gaming operation in Japan, and OpenFeint based platform businesses in North America, Asia, and Europe. With all these businesses, GREE’s network reaches over 140 million users worldwide. The operations in Korea, Singapore, U.K., Netherlands, and Brazil will boost GREE’s plan to expand its global footprint.

Gree competes with DeNA, another major social gaming platform in Japan. DeNA recently established a new company BDNA Inc. along with NAMCO BANDAI Games Inc to deliver social games and entertainment content to smartphone users across the world.
