Instagram : Why it the best way to share your life
Have you ever noticed that photographs has a unique way to evoke emotional connection with the story. A photograph can contain much more intricate and delicate emotions than a normal sentence. If you are a big admirer of out of box movies and stories, than you will find that each of these director has the skill to portray story through simple movement of still photographs. You will find staring at a simple scene for 5 to 10 minutes where motions are frozen, but the story somehow continues. This is what I admire a lot about Instagram, the power to tell stories through photos.
Instagram is a simple mobile application that lets you take a photo and than apply additional creative filters and publish it to your stream. Like in twitter, you can follow and unfollow people who publish creative photographs. The amazing feature of Instagram is that it helps you dramatize any kind of lame photos to make it look like a masterpiece from retro-times.
You have to use the application to understand the kind of emotion it evokes which cannot be replicated through facebook photos or google+ photos. They are full of noise that downgrades the whole experience. Where as in case of Instagram, the effect is much more powerful due to the form factor of a mobile device and the brevity of the design of an application.
Photo sharing sites are now emerging as an innovative way to share stories. Facebook and Google have already launched their own additional applications or plugins to create a similar experience with their photo sharing application. But I doubt if it will gain any traction among the users because one of the key factor behind the success of Instagram is not only the application but the design of the social framework of being non-relationship based.
In Facebook/Google+ there is per-existing relationship of being someone’s friends or employees or family. This makes the whole experience of sharing your creative approach to life meaningless. It is only in the midst of non-relationships based network that one can truely admire someone’s creative expressions. This is what makes Instagrams’ social framework very important. If Instagrams was to lock you with only people you knew than the kind of content would be different than which is now.
Right now, fashion designers, photographers and artist are using Instagram to experiment with their creative expressions and the platform is creating magic for them. This is immediately felt once you start to use the application and explore the network of people sharing their random photos of themselves, or people around them.
So this whole experience of mine, makes Instagram one of the most creative mobile app out there in the app stores. Its easy to use and the experience is priceless.
Below are some of my own experiment with Instagram:
