eBay launches a new shipping service for sellers in Singapore
eBay has launched a new shipping service in collaboration with Singapore Post (SingPost) and the United States Postal Service (USPS), with the aim of improving the international tracking and delivery of lightweight goods, not exceeding 2kg, plying from Singapore to the United States.
The new ePac service provides Singapore-based sellers and their US customers with a faster, more convenient and affordable shipping solution, and aims to further boost trade from Singapore to the United States. It also gives US-based customers tools to easily track and confirm delivery via their My eBay account.
“This jointly developed service is another effort to provide a reliable and affordable delivery solution to a rapidly growing global community of online shoppers, and in this case, the US buyers. E-commerce in Singapore has grown significantly over the last few years as more Singaporeans are embracing an e-lifestyle. SingPost is keen to play a big part in this growth and is offering value e-commerce fulfilment and logistics solutions in Singapore and the region,” said Mr. Woo Keng Leong, Executive Vice President (Postal), SingPost.
“Singapore sellers on eBay are highly regarded for combining good quality products at great value. This is primarily why this market has the second largest sales in Southeast Asia after Thailand,” added Mr. Oliver Hua, Chief Operating Officer, Greater China, Southeast Asia and Japan, eBay Marketplaces.
Prior to ePac, sellers would use traditional methods such as airmail, and shipping would take as long as three weeks. Customers would also face difficulty in tracking as the tracking codes had to be sourced from external parties, involving a lot of e-mail interactions between buyers and sellers. EPac on the other hand, allows products to be delivered to the U.S from Singapore in 6-8 days, and allows buyers and sellers to track shipments with greater ease.
