by on February 3rd, 2012

Info Edge owned online job portal Naukri.com, has introduced free job search apps that allow iphone, Blackberry and Android device users to search for jobs on their mobile phones. The company has also released an exclusive HTML site for the users.

According to techcircle, both the mobile app and the site allows jobseekers to filter jobs based on location, keywords, functional area, experience bracket and minimum expected salary. Jobseekers can view the detailed job descriptions and apply directly from their mobile devices.

The mobile site also allows users to create custom job alerts, which are directly sent to the users’ inbox three times a week.  Jobseekers also get job recommendations, when they log in, based on the info provided during the profile creation.

“Mobile devices are bringing about a revolution in the way people use Internet and consume content from the web and smartphones are the new basic phones that would eventually engage users more than a PC. With the launch of our apps and (re-purposed) website for mobile devices, we aim to offer our users the ability to continue their job search on the go and never miss out on a career opportunity,” adds Vibhore Sharma, EVP, Technology, Naukri.com.

With more and more people using social networking sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter to look for jobs, the only way job portals can survive in the market is by introducing new apps to boost the site features and by making their site more mobile friendly.
