With advancement in technology, even the Indian government official bodies are also heading towards the technology for providing easy & fast services to the populace. The recent name is Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation of India, IRCTC. IRCTC is all set to offer its customers an app in order to book railway tickets from their Windows 8 Store as well as Windows 8 phone.
IRCTC is already offering a web based online booking service to its customers for booking the railway tickets and getting information related to railways. Now this new app from IRCTC will further help the people to do the same quickly and easily. The booking of tickets through this app will be accessible all through the day apart from the timings from 8 in the morning to 12 in the noon. For this time, it will be closed so as to reduce some load over the servers during booking from Tatkal ticket window. From 11:30 in the morning to 12:30 noon the same will be closed with the purpose of maintenance.
This app will be available to be downloaded from Windows Phone Store as well as Windows 8 Store and will be free of charge. The app will allow customers to plan their journey, check the status of their PNR, book railways tickets, check availability of ticket, and make a check over booking, to review the cancellation history and many more. But signing up for the services of IRCTC would be required in order to generate a TPIN code for login to access all the services through this app.
The announcement for the app was done by CMD of IRCTC, Mr. Rakesh Tondon. Moreover, as said by the Microsoft, this IRCTC app is strappingly integrated with a feature named ‘Windows Azure’ for enjoying a series of mediator services.
