Usually, when the people following you are blocked or suspended by the user, twitter cannot access to the user details. Hence, TwitIn doesn’t show you any list.

Twitter’s internal calculations shows exception when calculating the number of friends and fans for people, who have very large number of followers, like @bbcclick or @mashable. Hence TwitIn cannot display their profile.

When you click the reciprocate or grow button, the actions are immediately taken. The time depends on the number of people you have selected. In order to verify your action, you can log on to Twitter and check with the list.
